ABPA Executive Committee

Jen Sowders
C0-President  ∙  Bradfield

Hello! Nice to "meet" everyone! I'm excited to share the role of President this year with Suzie Forsberg.  My husband, Scott Trulock, and I have two little girls - Lauren who is in Pre-K4 and Claire who is in the toddler program at Westminster Presbyterian Preschool. My undergrad is from A&M and my MBA from SMU. I work full time as VP Strategy for an advertising agency in Addison. Our favorite vacation spots are Jackson Hole (we were married there!) and St John... wish we were there now!

Suzie Forsberg
Co-President  ∙  Armstrong

After graduating from Trinity University, I spent 18 years in Corporate America doing business strategy, technology deployments and leading professional services teams.  I have been "retired" for the past year and am enjoying spending time at home with Will, age 6 who will be entering 1st grade this fall, and Katie, age 4 who is in pre-K at HPPDS.  When I am not volunteering for ABPA, Armstrong or HPPDS, I am actively working and enjoying my Nerium business!  Our family is addicted to our annual trip to Seaside, FL and regular visits to Austin - where both Chad and my parents live.

Angie Shank
President Elect  ∙  Bradfield

I'm a Dallas native and University of Texas alum. I have my masters in education from University of North Texas and am temporarily retired from teaching to stay home with my two sons, George (4.5) and Charlie (1). My husband, Allen, grew up in the HP schools and went to SMU. We are a family of crazy SMU super fans--especially during basketball season! My favorite thing about life in Dallas are the great restaurants. We can be found many Sundays at Carbone's, known to George as "Chef Pisghetti's."

Erin Geary
Treasurer    Armstrong

Hi! I'm originally from Houston and have lived in Dallas almost 3 years (and love it!). I went to UT for undergrad, and Columbia for my Master's in Nursing. I work part time as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Baylor. I have a 17 month old son who will attend Armstrong, and a 16 year old step daughter who is currently a sophomore at HPHS. My husband and I lived in London and NY before coming back to TX. If London weather was anything like the weather in Spain, we never would have come back!

 Suzi Ellis
Past President  ∙  Armstrong

My name is Suzi Ellis and I have been involved in the ABPA for the past 6 years. I've been a docent, co-chaired the Home Tour, and now have the best job in ABPA: PAST PRESIDENT! My husband, Josh, and I have two little girls: Parker, who is a second grader at Armstrong, and Poppy, age 2, who attends HPPDS. I own a small PR firm and love to workout, spend time at the lake and drink great wine. My newest venture is a tween clothing boutique coming to Snider Plaza: West Coast Vibes.

I'm looking forward to an awesome year with the ABPA and getting to know all of you!

Virginia Flynn
Secretary/Bylaws Chair  ∙  Bradfield
Nice to meet y'all! I am originally from Sumter, SC but now call Charleston home since my mother has lived there for the past fifteen years. I attended the College of Charleston for undergrad and Washington and Lee University for law school. We recently moved to Dallas from Richmond, VA a year ago when my husband was transferred for his job (he's also a lawyer).  Eric works for Hunton & Williams and I work for Troutman Sanders, but because my firm does not have an office yet I work remotely (aka sometimes/most of the time in comfy clothes...).

We have a rambunctious 2 year old boy named Henry and a baby Benjamin.

Amanda Shufeldt
VP Membership ∙  Armstrong

Hello!  I am originally from Little Rock, Arkansas but have been living in Dallas since 2003!  I have a wonderful husband, Charlie, who is originally from Atlanta, GA. Even though neither of us are Dallas natives, it has become home to us! We have two daughters, Margaret and Alexa.

Laura Jorgeson
VP Member Events    Armstrong

I grew up in HP, moved away for 10+ years, and then came back. My husband, Brent, moved here for me. Bless him! We have two precious children, Charlie (7 years old) who is finishing kindergarten at Armstrong and Caroline "Coco" (3 years old going on 20) who will be at HPPDS. My undergrad degree is in foreign languages. I am an attorney, worked for a big national law firm in Dallas and Los Angeles (also admitted to Court of International Trade in NY) before I started a company that sources, imports and sells stone for architectural use. Cross country skiing is my favorite sport. My two favorite foods are Cheetos and champagne. Never ate them together before but that sounds pretty tasty and may be on tomorrow's dinner menu. I am always the one taking the photos of everyone else, so I don't have many recent pics of myself except this pitiful one that is a pretty accurate representation. Someone throw a Cheeto in that open mouth fast!

Annie Kouyoumdjian
VP Family Events  ∙  Armstrong

My name is Annie Kouyoumdjian, and I moved to Dallas 6 years ago. I was born and raised in Los Angeles but call Dallas my home. I have 2 daughters, Mika and Cora, and am expecting a baby boy! I double majored in Apparel Merchandising and Marketing and my love for fashion landed me a career as a personal shopper. I have found a new passion that has sort of become my addiction: Real Estate. A boy brought me to Texas (my now hubby), who is an amazing father and Pediatric Dentist. I'm so excited to be VP of Family Events again this year and know this group will make it truly memorable.

Vanessa Ayoub
VP Fundraising/Home Tour Chair ∙  Armstrong

Howdy! I am a Dallas native and HP grad. I attended the University of Texas and received my BS in Communication Studies and MAT from USC. I was on the Southwest Airlines Marketing team for almost a decade. I am a full-time “Mom” to four beautiful children under the age of 5; twin boys - Cam and Pax, Jordyn, Madison (aka Maddie) and 200 pounds of chocolate labs. My husband, Chris, and our kids keep me busy, entertained, and fulfilled. Our family loves to travel. I host many a party at the drop of a hat. Family and friends are dear to me. I have a small embroidery business. You can sometimes see me subbing in the HPISD system. My children's education and those in the community are what prompted me to join ABPA. I look forward to meeting you and hope to work with you in the near future. It’s all about the kids!

Rebecca Betz
VP Fundraising/Home Tour Chair  ∙  Armstrong

My name is Becca Betz and I am originally from the East Coast, but have been in Dallas for more than half my life.  Some would describe me as a Texas Girl with a New England Attitude.  I graduated from SMU and found myself working in Public Relations, Event Planning and Fundraising.  Perfect practice to be a Co-Chair for the Home Tour!  I am married to an amazing man, Wade Betz who I met at SMU.  I have two active boys, Bryce 8 and Drake 6.  I am proud to be an Armstrong Mom and excited to meet everyone in ABPA!

Hello!  I am an Austinite (a little rare to find these days) who lived in Austin until I was 21 (yikes!)  Then I am became a gypsy (as my friends use to call me) and never seemed to stay too long in one place.  After graduating from the University of Texas, I worked at Andersen Consulting (now called Accenture) in a group called Change Management (I had no idea what it was when I took the job) for 5 years.  I traveled weekly (and ate way too much hotel food) and was ready to stay in one place.  I went to Chicago Booth full time and got my MBA in finance and marketing and then jumped around a bit...PepsiCo to Target back to Pepsico (which is what brought me to Dallas) then to a small local beauty company and now a stay at home mommy to my beautiful girls Dahlia (5) and Yasmine (3).  As my friends like to say "the gypsy has landed" and I am glad I landed in HPISD where I get to hang out with the lovely members of ABPA.

Jamie Rogers
VP Communications  ∙  Armstrong

Hi! My name is Jamie Rogers and I was tricked into VP Communications thanks to a fellow board member (not naming names)! Originally from the East Coast, I made my way to Texas with a brief stint in the Midwest. My husband, Tim, and I have one child (Matthew - 3 yrs.) who keeps us on our toes and will be part of the Armstrong 2019 Kindergarten class, where his great-grandmother sat just a few decades ago. Although my undergrad is in Integrated Marketing Communication, I have found my passion in corporate sales development strategy. Most weekends you can find us riding our bikes around Snider Plaza, one of our many gorgeous parks, or parked at Royal Blue with a coffee in hand.
